Last thursday evening was a Demo night - by one of the member artist, Svitlana Pryhodkl(Sandy).
Brief background about Sandy in her own words:
I am a self- taught, full-time artist residing in Mississauga, Canada.
Art has always been my passion since I was a kid. I remember how greatly I was fascinated by the stained glass windows of chapels and monasteries. My soul was overwhelmed by these images, which still inspire me as examples of purity, mystery and artistic excellence.
For me painting is the magic beauty of color, colors combination, which brings mood and brightness at every moment in our life.
I have a university degree in commerce and college diploma in computer science, but career in these fields, although quite successful, did not bring me satisfaction. It was the passion for the art that won my heart. Every time I ready a canvas to be filled with mystery, my passion takes over me and allows me to paint in the ways I never imagined. I named this passion Sandi-Art, which reflects my first name Svitlana. I often feel that I communicate with my soul through the paintings I create.
My transition to a full time artist was rather slow at first. I only dedicated a couple of hours a day to my paintings, but as time progressed, things started to change rather drastically and soon enough a couple of hours weren't satisfying. So a couple of hours turned into busy days, and one or two canvass transformed into the world of diptychs, and triptychs.
Now as I dare to express my deep emotions, breathtaking mosaic color capes appear under my tools, creating an unusual balance of order and chaos. Influenced by North American abstract art, stained glass techniques, and of course my past experience, I am able to shape many styles into one that allows my wild heart to run free, delivering some of the most unusual and innovative artworks. For me painting is the magic beauty of color, colors combination, which brings mood and brightness at every moment in our life.
I am a proud member of Mississauga Art Society, which gives me a chance to participate in all regular art exhibitions and stay up to date.
